ANANKE: Safety Guardrails

As we mentioned in the first post, the Ypsos brand did not come alone; it was accompanied by four sub-brands, the first of which we have already welcomed.

PIGNUS, as we discussed in its own introduction, refers to our safety nets. They are designed for fall protection for people, such as on roofs with translucent panels or domed skylights.

In this post it is time to welcome Ypsos’s second sub-brand, ANANKE.

ANANKE is the name of our SAFETY GUARDRAILS, standardized in accordance with EN 14122-3. The name comes from Greek and means “restriction” or “necessity/what is necessary.”

The link between its name and its meaning lies in the fact that guardrails are considered collective protection. As we mentioned in previous posts, and according to Law 31/95 of November 8 on Occupational Health and Safety, collective protection takes priority over personal protection.

In conclusion, in regulatory terms it is “more necessary,” and that is how we justify the link between name and meaning.

TECHNICAL DATA

As safety manufacturers, all of our products have been tested following a series of measures, technical specifications, and standards.

The features of our safety guardrail are broken down into several points:

  • Material used: extruded aluminum, both mill finish and anodized.
  • The post contains plastic elements.
  • Round tubes for the handrail in three-meter lengths.

One thing worth mentioning about the anodized extruded aluminum guardrails is that they are designed to be installed in marine or corrosive environments.

USES

The main function of safety guardrails is to protect people on a surface two meters high from falling.

This creates a safe space for anyone who has to perform any work in that location.

Safety guardrails are one of the preferred protection devices in many cases because they do not require any specific training for the worker.

These fall protection elements are usually installed in different areas:

  • Roofs, as perimeter protection for anyone on them.
  • Walkways or platforms, installed at the edges to prevent falls.
  • Floor openings, such as domed skylights on a roof.
  • Any area where the worker could fall onto machinery or hazardous substances.

In general, any place where there is a risk of falling and safety guardrails are the best option.

In upcoming posts we will go into more detail on regulatory matters.
