Ypsos Safety is growing, and as we already announced in our first posts more than a year ago, the brand did not come alone; it was accompanied by five sub-brands corresponding to five products.

In earlier posts we introduced PIGNUS , the name of our safety nets, ANANKE for safety guardrails, and ORYG, the name of our crossovers.

Now it is time to welcome REBRIK, the name of our fixed vertical ladders.

DEFINITION OF A VERTICAL LADDER

First of all, we need to be clear on the definition of a vertical ladder and its function.

A vertical ladder is a type of ladder used to climb up or down between different levels or heights in a vertical manner. These ladders are usually very steep and consist of a series of rungs or steps arranged perpendicular to the ground.

Vertical ladders are used in a variety of applications, such as portable ladders used to reach high places in construction or maintenance, ladders for access to attics or storage spaces, and ladders for access to boats or small vessels.

STANDARDS FOR VERTICAL LADDERS

Ypsos vertical ladders will be of two types, and in accordance with European regulations, both will fall under the UNE EN ISO 14122 standard.

  • EN 14122.3. Safety of machinery. Permanent means of access to machinery. Part 3: Stairs, stepladders and guardrails.
  • EN 14122.4. Safety of machinery. Permanent means of access to machinery. Part 4: Fixed ladders

For 45° and 60° ladders, we use the third part of the standard, and for fully vertical ladders at 180°, we follow part 4.

We should specify and make clear that this may vary depending on the needs of the installation and the type of ladder to be manufactured for it.

FEATURES OF REBRIK LADDERS

  • Available with a 45° or 60° incline.
  • Steps with an R11 non-slip platform.
  • If fitted with a guardrail, aluminum tubes with connecting fittings.
  • Depending on the height in meters, safety hoops will be needed.

It is important to note that these features may vary according to the needs of each location or client.

WHERE TO INSTALL A REBRIK VERTICAL LADDER

Rebrik vertical ladders can be installed in a variety of places and situations, depending on their purpose and function.

  1. Residential Buildings: Vertical ladders can be installed in houses and apartments to access attics, lofts, or other elevated storage spaces. They can also be used as access solutions to rooftop terraces.
  2. Commercial Buildings: They can be used to provide access to elevated storage areas, such as warehouses or storerooms. They are also used in retail stores to access second-floor sales areas.
  3. Industry: In industrial environments, they are common for accessing machinery, high-bay storage systems, and other elevated work areas.
  4. Vessels: On boats, yachts, and small vessels, vertical ladders are installed to access different levels or to make it easier to get in and out of the water.
  5. Construction: Portable vertical ladders are essential in construction for reaching elevated areas of buildings under construction or during maintenance work.
  6. Public Facilities: In some public places, such as stadiums, theaters, or convention centers, temporary or permanent vertical ladders are installed to provide access to different areas and levels.
  7. Access to Observation Platforms: In observation towers, skyscrapers, and similar structures, to allow people to reach elevated observation platforms.
  8. Rescue and Emergency Facilities: Vertical ladders are also used in rescue and emergency situations, such as to reach people trapped in buildings or elevated structures.

From the examples mentioned, we can see that vertical ladders are used both in everyday life and professionally; we can find them in any place and situation.

In conclusion, we once again stress the importance of the standard: depending on the type of vertical ladder chosen and the access needs, one or another will apply, but always under UNE EN 14122.
